One-line definitions for Spaces terminology.

| Space | Your private environment for Knowledge, Controls, Chat, and History. |
| Org Space | The Space you pick at sign-in — shared Knowledge, Controls, and System. |
| My Space | A private sub-Space inside your org Space for scoped sources and conversations. |
| Authored Knowledge | The docs tagline: answers come from the library you add and keep in the Space, not from the open web. The UI section is Knowledge. |
| Knowledge | The library of sources you add, indexed for retrieval. |
| Sources | Citations attached to grounded answers, tracing back to your documents. |
| Controls | Space-level behaviour: platform guardrails and Space rules. |
| Platform guardrails | Empathy.AI rules — always-on, read-only, including immutable safety. |
| Rules | Customer-owned policy (tone, format, domain, custom). Status is Active, Inactive, or Draft. |
| Core Prompt | Former name for Space-level behaviour. Replaced by Controls. |
| Chat | Where you ask questions and receive grounded answers. |
| History | Saved conversations — pin, rename, delete, export, or share. |
| System | Read-only view of models, pipeline, storage, and ingestion configuration. |
| General knowledge | Org-level sources associated with one or more My Spaces. |
| Deep search | Chat mode that widens where retrieval searches — across all your My Spaces. |
| Adaptive | Chat mode that deepens how retrieval runs — extra steps across your Knowledge before answering, under the same Controls. |
| Extensions | Built-in skills Adaptive uses to generate downloadable documents from your Knowledge. Not a Controls section. |
| Generated document | A downloadable file generated from your Knowledge — shown in chat as a "Document ready" step. |
| Grounded answer | A response drawn from your Knowledge, with Sources attached. |
